- Treadles can be refurbished once. The service will restore the unit to factory condition and will expand the lifespan of the treadle. Refurbishment is cheaper than renewal and carries all of the same warranties and performance of a new unit.
- Treadles should be renewed or refurbished before they wear to the point where there is a risk of failure. The rate of wear is related to line speed, traffic density, freight trains, flange tolerances and arm return times.
- If the contact arm shows wear of 50% (3.5mm) or more of it’s diameter it should be changed. The slot in the treadle gauge should be used to perform this check.
